I was born in Durham, North Carolina. I graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, after completing a double-major in Political Science and Justice and Policy Studies, and earned my J.D., cum laude, from Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.
While in law school, I was a member of the Campbell University Law Review and published a law review article entitled North Carolina and Pretrial Civil Revocation of an Impaired Driver's License and the Double Jeopardy Clause (18 Campbell L. Rev. 391). I was a member of the law school's ATLA Trial Team and was elected by my peers to serve on the Student Bar Association.
I began my career working for the State of North Carolina as an Assistant District Attorney in Guilford County. As a prosecutor, I handled hundreds of cases involving everything from speeding tickets to murder and gained valuable experience in criminal law and criminal procedure. I then worked for a law firm with over 20 lawyers where I handled a variety of civil litigation issues ranging from personal injury to complex commercial litigation. I then worked in a small 4 lawyer law firm handling criminal matters, civil litigation matters and general business and estate matters. Each had different ways of doing business. I took the best of each — the strategies for successful results, the emphasis on compassionate representation and the cost-effective approach to the practice of law — and used them to my clients' advantage when I opened my own High Point, North Carolina, law firm.
I bring a great deal of experience to the Tyrey Law Offices. By combining experience with compassionate representation, I have achieved a record of favorable results for clients in diverse practice areas. These include criminal defense, personal injury, business law and other civil litigation.
